David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, DSWT
Kenya, Nairobi
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was founded in 1977 as a sanctuary for elephants and rhinos. At this time, cases of mass killings of animals in pursuit of valuable ivory, tusks and horns of rhinos became more frequent in Kenya. As part of the rehabilitation program, the animals are cared for and healed, and then released back into the wild. Many sick and parentless animals are sent here for rehabilitation from various small parks in Kenya. The doors of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust are always open to visitors. Everyone can get acquainted with the conditions of keeping animals and watch them closely.
