The National Museum of Western Art is located opposite the
National Museum of Nature and Science. It was opened in 1957 in a building designed by Le Corbusier. The basis of the museum was the collection of the Japanese businessman and politician Matsukata Kojiro. Among its exhibits are sculptures, graphic works and numerous paintings represented by the works of such painters as Rubens, Van Dyck, Tintoretto, Renoir, Van Gogh, Goya, Rembrandt.
