Few people know that the sacred mountain Koya-san is located 80 km from Osaka. And this is not just a mountain, there is a town on it with numerous temples and monasteries of the Shingon Buddhist school. The first temple was founded in 819. And from Koya-san begins the ancient Kumano-kodo pilgrimage trail to the Kumano Shinto shrines. But this is not just a trail, but one of the two pilgrimage trails in the world, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here is a quiet and beautiful place where you can forget about the daily bustle and immerse yourself in Zen (especially if you stay in one of the monasteries for a few days).→
