The Church of San Zaccaria is located in the western part of the Castello area. It was built in the 9th century, destroyed by fire in 1105 and rebuilt at the beginning of the 16th century. The church is a fine example of the Venetian Renaissance. The main attraction of its interior is the painting by Giovanni Bellini "Madonna and Child with Saints". Also noteworthy are the two chapels of the church - St. Tarasius and St. Athanasius.
