The Dolomites are a mountain range in the Eastern Alps, part of the Southern Limestone Alps. The massif covers an area of 141.9 km² and includes 18 peaks over 3 thousand meters high. The Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park is located on the territory of the Dolomites, as well as several natural parks.
The Dolomites are a popular area for tourism and winter sports. The main valleys lead to many places in the massif. Resort villages: Cortina d'Ampezzo, Rocca Pietore, Alleghe, Falcade, Auronzo Cadore and Ortisei, through which the narrow gauge railway passes.
