Ruined Imperial Villa of Hadrian

Villa Adriana
Italy, Tivoli
Hadrian's Villa is now a one square kilometer ruined complex of buildings where Emperor Hadrian ruled the Roman Empire at the end of his life. The construction of the villa began in 118 AD and continued until the death of Hadrian in 134.

Hadrian's Villa is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site despite the deteriorating condition of the villa's ruins.

Fans of ancient Roman history will definitely be interested in the summer residence of Emperor Hadrian. It is difficult to imagine its real size, today we see only a fifth of it. We can judge the wealth and beauty of the villa by the list of masterpieces found on it during excavations and donated, in particular, to the Vatican and Capitoline museums. And how many more were simply plundered in the dark ages. I had a chance to visit the villa with an individual tour. We walked the longest route, about 3-3.
