This is the second of the singing fountains of Villa d'Este. It was conceived by Giovanni del Duca from Burgundy and executed in 1569 by Raffaello Sangallo from Florence. Thanks to complex mechanisms and falling water, flocks of metal birds appeared on the branches and sang. Suddenly, another mechanism threw out an owl, and a noisy unpleasant singing was heard. The birds became frightened and disappeared. Alas, time did not spare this fountain. Decorations have disappeared, mosaics have collapsed.→
