The Pantalica Necropolis in Sicily contains more than 5,000 open-air tombs carved into the rocks of the Iblean Mountains. Dated from the period of 13 - 7 centuries. BC e. and belong to the same archaeological culture. The creators of the necropolis were the Siculi, a people who came to Sicily at the end of the Bronze Age and brought with them the art of working iron. The monument, along with Syracuse, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
