The Hundred Horse Chestnut is the oldest and largest chestnut tree in the world. Located on the Linguaglossa road in Sant'Alfio, on the eastern slope of Mount Etna. The chestnut is located 8 km from the Etna crater and, according to various estimates, its age ranges from 2 to 4 thousand years. The Guinness Book of World Records lists hundreds of horses as the tree with the largest trunk. When measured in 1780, the circumference of the trunk was 57.9 m. Above the ground, the chestnut is divided into several trunks, but they have a common root.
