Cavour Square
Piazza Cavour, Cavour Square
Italy, Rimini
Piazza Cavour is considered the cultural center of Rimini.
One of the palaces on Cavour Square is Garampi (it today houses the municipality). The other is the Palazzo del Arengo, built at the beginning of the 13th century during the reign of Modio de Carbonese and has always symbolized the freedom of the commune city. Another palace on Piazza Cavour is the Palazzo del Podesta, built in the 1330s.
On Cavour Square there is another building - the Teatro Communale. This famous theater opened in 1857.
In the middle of Cavour Square there is a monument to Pope Paul V, which appeared here at the beginning of the 17th century. Nearby is the Cone Fountain built in 1543 by Giovanni da Carrara. The fountain consists of three concentric ledges, the upper of which belongs to the Roman era, topped with a cone of white marble.
