The triumphal arch of Constantine, located between the Colosseum and Arc de Triomphe of Titus, was built in 315. and is dedicated to the victory of Constantine over Maxentius during the civil war. This is the largest triumphal arch that has survived to this day. It has three arched bays, with eight Corinthian columns, 4 on each side, reaches 21 m in height and is decorated with sculptures and bas-reliefs taken from other monuments of different periods (the times of Marcus Aurelius, Trajan and Hadrian). Brick and marble were used in the construction of the arch.
The triumphal arch of Constantine is a vivid example of ancient architecture, a symbol of the decline of the great Roman Empire.

Arch next to the Colosseum

The Arch of Constantine is nearby and blends beautifully with the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Stole. Immediately after our arrival and check-in, we went to the Colosseum and walked late into the vicinity. The construction of the arch began in 312, immediately after Constantine's victory over Maxentius, and ended on July 25.315. This is the day when Constantine celebrated the tenth anniversary of his reign. The arch undoubtedly attracts the attention of tourists, and I want to take a closer look at it.→
