It was called the "wonder of the world" because the best sculptors of Rome decorated the rooms with marble sculptures and unique mosaics. At the same time, the baths accommodated 1600 people.
The Baths of Caracalla were a gigantic public complex and included halls for ablutions, relaxation and entertainment. Meetings of Roman citizens were held here, works of ancient art were kept, there was an extensive library and sports grounds. When the barbarians destroyed the aqueducts in 537, the baths began to fall into disrepair and gradually turned into ruins. In the 19th century their area was cleared and adapted for cultural events and concerts.
