Rome is a city that will impress even the most experienced traveler. What are its numerous squares worth, the variety of which simply twists.
We got to Piazza Venezia by chance in the evening. We just walked and were sure that no matter which path we chose, it would lead to some beautiful sight - this is Rome! And what was my delight when we turned off Via Dei Fori Imperiali, went straight to the square and saw a huge snow-white building - the Venetian Palace, in front of which incredible sculptures flaunted.
The name of the square - Piazza Venezia, is due to the fact that the embassy of the Venetian Republic was located here in the 15th century. During the reign of Mussolini, the palace was his residence.
In 1885, a monument to the first Italian king, Vittorio Emmanuel II, was built on the square in front of the palace.
Currently, the Museo Palazzo Venezia is located here, which houses collections of works from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In addition to museums, there are viewing platforms that offer a good panorama of the surrounding environs of Rome.
The square is the starting point for excursions in Rome, so there are always a lot of people here. For those wishing to ride on horse-drawn carts, several of these "carriages" are parked. You can take advantage and feel like a “signor / signorina”.
The second time we came to the square, of course, during the day and admired all this beauty to our heart's content. Nearby we found a small cafe that sells the most delicious ice cream in the world (although in Rome the most delicious ice cream is everywhere).
