Piazza di Spagna in Rome is one of the most elegant and popular squares in the city. It got its name from the location of the XVII century. on it to the Spanish embassy at the court of the Pope in the Monaldeschi Palace. Visually, the square looks like 2 triangles: the northern part is the Spanish Steps, the temple of Trinita dei Monti; the central place of the square is decorated with the amazing Barcaccia fountain by Bernini (Barcaccia from Italian “boat”); and the southern part is the Palazzo di Spagna, as well as the "column of the Immaculate Conception" erected in 1854. The dominant feature of the square is the
Spanish Steps. The church of the Holy Trinity on the mountain with two domes, erected in 1495, dominates the stairs. In the XVIII century. fashion settles in Plaza de España and was picked up by young English aristocrats and other creative people - at different times J. Keats, Stendhal, N. Gogol and others lived here. It is also the center of the Roman fashion quarter, the most famous Italian brands are represented on Condotti Street, which begins at the square.
Plaza de España is not just an attractive place, it is also a place rich in history and architecture.
