The architectural ensemble, belonging to the Order of the Knights of Malta since the fourteenth century, underwent reconstruction in the seventeenth century. The reconstruction was carried out by Battista Piranesi. The architect showed his imagination here to the full, as evidenced by the view of the dome of St. Peter's Basilica from the terrace of the entrance portal. And since we are not the Knights of Malta and no one will let us into the territory of the embassy, we will peep through a hole in the fence : ) (Actually, a hole in the gate) We are standing in Italy, looking at a garden belonging to the state of Malta, and we see the state of the Vatican.→
