Four fountains

Quattro Fontane, The Four Fountains
Italy, Rome
The Four Fountains are a combination of fountains located at the intersection of the streets of the Four Fountains and the Quirinale. The fountains were created in 1588-1593 by the sculptors Domenico Fontana and Pietro da Cartona. The sculptures symbolize the Tiber River - a symbol of Rome, the Arno River - a symbol of Florence, as well as the goddess Juno - a symbol of female power and the goddess Diana - a symbol of purity. Next to the fountains is the Late Baroque Church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, named after them.

This amazing crossroads appeared at the end of the 16th century. 4 fountains are built into the niches in the houses - Tiber, Arno, Diana, Juno. A visit to these fountains is included in a sightseeing tour of Rome. But if you are traveling on your own, I advise you to definitely go and admire. From this crossroad you have a wonderful view of the three obelisks: near Santa Maria Margiore, Quirinal Hill and Trinita dei Monti.
