Castle Murat di Pizzo Calabro

Castello Aragonese Murat, Castello Murat
Italy, Pizzo
Castle Murat di Pizzo Calabro was built under the Kingdom of Aragon in the 15th century and bears the name of Joachim Murat, King of Naples, who was sentenced to death here in 1815. The castle never served as a residence for the nobility, but only served a defensive function and was a prison for military and political criminals. The fortress is a fort with two towers, decorated with a pattern of stone. The main entrance to the castle is via a drawbridge. The castle is located in the central part of the city, on Musolino Square, which offers a beautiful view of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
