Palatine Chapel
Cappella Palatina, Palatine Chapel
Italy, Palermo
The Palatine Chapel (Italian Cappella Palatina - literally, “palace chapel”) is the chapel of the Norman Palace in Palermo, the personal chapel of the Sicilian kings and viceroys. It is one of the most important monuments of the Arab-Norman style, contains mosaics of the 12th and 15th centuries made by Byzantine and local masters, as well as an Arabic carved ceiling, rare in Europe.
