Prato della Valle square

Prato della Valle
Italy, Padua
Prato della Valle was built in 1775 by the architect Domenico Cerato and is the largest square in Italy. In the southern part of Prato della Valle is the Basilica of Santa Giustina, and in the northern part of the square is the St. Anthony's Basilica. An elliptical canal flows around the central part of the square; it is decorated with a double row of statues of prominent Padua and several bridges, at the intersection of which there is a fountain.

It is said that there used to be a swamp there. Now it is a very beautiful square with a circular canal and statues. Even the spring rain didn't stop us from appreciating the beauty. In a complex with the Basilica of St. Anthony, this is a very beautiful ensemble! Be sure to take a walk. On weekends, there are a lot of city events. If you're lucky, it won't rain either.
