The Basilica of Saint Ambrose is located in the historic center of the city, south of
Sempione Park. It was built by St. Ambrose of Milan at the end of the 4th century, and acquired its current Romanesque appearance at the end of the 11th century. The relics of St. Ambrose, as well as the martyrs Gevrasios and Protasius, rest in the basilica. On the sides of the basilica are two medieval bell towers.
