Gardens of La Mortella
Giardini La Mortella
Italy, Ischia
Luxurious botanical park created by Lady Susanna Walton, wife of the famous English composer Sir William Walton.
The gardens take their name from the "divine myrtle" (in Neapolitan "mortella"). On their territory of 2 hectares, more than 3,000 species of exotic and rare plants and flowers brought from all over the world are collected.
The plan for the park was created in 1956 by a famous English landscape architect named Russell Page. The design of the park provides for numerous fountains, pools and cascades, allowing the cultivation of an impressive collection of aquatic plants.
