The statue of Galileo is located outside the Uffizi Gallery in one of the many niches towards
Piazza Signoria. The sculpture was created by the famous sculptor Kotodi in 1839. The monument is a figure of a famous scientist who holds a telescope in his hands, and at his feet lies a star globe. The statue of Galileo is the first in a series of 28 sculptures dedicated to the famous Tuscans, including Pier Antonio Micheli, Leonardo da Vinci and many others.
