The original house was lined with rust and looked like a fortress; was located on a slope, and the courtyard was turned into a garden. But Pitty did not have enough money to complete the palace. Niccolo Machiavelli pointed out that Pitti did not stop at anything to raise money for construction and accepted gifts, bribes, even criminals for work. The Medici family won the political and financial confrontation, seizing the palazzo and forcing Pitti to emigrate. Today, the Palazzo is the largest museum in Florence.

The palazzo was originally owned by Luca Pitti. But after his death, the palazzo was bought by Cosimo 1 of the Medici and the ducal court moved here from the Palazzo Vecchio. Then there was the residence of Elisa Bonaparte, then the residence of King Vittorio Emanuele. As far as I remember, the ticket to visit the Palatine Gallery (works by Italian and European artists) and the Royal Apartments - that is, the palace itself - is one, and the Boboli Gardens and everything else is different (but maybe something has already changed).
