National Archaeological Museum of Florence

Museo archeologico nationale di Firenze, National Archaeological Museum of Florence
Italy, Florence
The National Archaeological Museum was opened in 1870 and initially consisted only of the Etruscan and Roman collections. Later exhibits of Roman and Egyptian cultures were added. The basis of these collections are artifacts from the personal collections of the Medici. The most significant exhibits of the museum are the Bronze Chimera, the royal sarcophagus, the chariots of the 18th dynasty and the François vase. The National Archaeological Museum is located in the Crocetta Palace, which was built for Princess Marie de Medici.

Entrance to the museum from Piazza Santissma Annunziata. I recommend for visiting connoisseurs of the Etruscan civilization and Ancient Egypt. Many interesting exhibits, Etruscan sarcophagi, bronze statues. And in the garden of the museum, Etruscan graves were rebuilt from original materials.
