The complex was built according to the project of the architect A. Torregiani in 1728-1735 to accommodate the church of San Ignacio and the Jesuit monastery. In 1803, the Pinacoteca and the Academy of Arts, which was founded in 1710 under the name Accademia Clementina, were located here. The picture gallery has a huge collection of works from the 13th to the 18th centuries. A large collection of sculptures is exhibited in the corridors of the art gallery.
