In the very south of the state is the largest nature reserve in Goa, founded in 1968, the largest conservation complex of the state - Kotigao. Its area is 86 sq. km.
It is located on the picturesque banks of the Talpona River. Here, from the watchtower, built in the 16th century, you can observe the life of the wild jungle: Indian bison, deer roam freely, you can also see sambars, jackals, various types of monkeys, gaurs (Indian buffaloes), panthers, hyenas, gazelles and other representatives of the animal peace. There is also a huge number of tropical birds.
