Rachol Seminary, Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol

Rachol Seminary is located on the banks of the Zauri River near the village of Raya, about 12 km. northeast of the city of Margao. The seminary, founded by the Jesuits in 1580, was originally located in Margao. Over the years, the building housed a hospital, a school for the poor, and a college.
The seminary church is dedicated to Saint Ignatius de Loyola. In 1991, the Museum of Christian Art was opened in the building. The museum has a rich collection of ancient Roman Catholic art, mainly dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
