Church of Saint Cajetan
St. Cajetan's Chapel, Church of Saint Cajetan
India, North Goa
The church of St. Caetan was built in the image and likeness of the church of St. Peter in Rome. It is named after Saint Cajetan, an Italian contemporary of Saint Francis.
The Church of St. Cajetan was built in 1655 by Italian monks sent by Pope Urban III to spread Christianity in the kingdom of Golconda near Hyderabad. The monks were not allowed to work in Golconda, so they came on their mission to Old Goa in 1640.
The beautiful facade of the Church of St. Cajetan, built in a classical style, is decorated with statues of the apostles.
