India, North Goa
The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary is one of the most beautiful churches in Goa. It is located on the main square of the capital of Panaji in its very upper part.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary is the main church for all Christians in the city. Masses are held here every morning in three different languages: English, Konkani and Portuguese.
The original church was built in 1540. After the wars, it was partially destroyed and then rebuilt in 1619. The exterior of the church is modeled after that of the Reis Magos. The facade of the building has tall twin towers in the Portuguese Baroque style.
