The Jantar Mantar observatory is considered the same age as Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Its construction by Raja Jai ​ ​ Singh dates back to 1728, although construction continued for more than one year. Here, on one square, unique in size astronomical instruments of antiquity were placed for observing the stars, when there were no telescopes in India yet, determining the exact time using a sundial with the largest dial in diameter of 27 meters.
