moon gate

Chand Pol, Moon Gate, Jaipur Pink City
India, Jaipur
Moon Gate is the western defensive wall of the ancient fort Amber, located 11 km from Jaipur in India. During the construction of the wall, a durable local copper-colored stone was used, thanks to which the structure has survived to this day, and the fort itself was called the “Pink City”. Several observation points adjoin the wall, from here round-the-clock surveillance was carried out. The "Moon Gates" had a special defensive significance in the event of an enemy attack. From here you can enjoy a picturesque view of massive ridges and mountains.

In Jaipur, there are several gates to enter the old city: the eastern one is called Suraj-Pol (Solar), and the western one is Chandpol (Lunar). The gates are beautiful, and behind them begins the old city, created from pink sandstone, but because of the busy traffic, it is very difficult to take even a beautiful photo of the gate, let alone admire them slowly.
