Jaipur city palace

City Palace of Jaipur, Jaipur City Palace
India, Jaipur
The Jaipur City Palace is a huge palace complex consisting of several buildings, a temple and gardens. This is the former residence of the Maharajas of Jaipur, although their descendants still live in a small part of this complex. The city palace includes such buildings as Mubarak Mahal, Sileh Khan, Chandra Mahal and Sri Govind Dev Temple. Currently, its walls house a museum that contains ancient costumes, weapons, musical instruments and carpets, as well as a collection of paintings, manuscripts and miniatures. The entire palace complex is richly decorated with carvings, inlays, frescoes, arches, statues and balconies - all this is a real delight for all visitors to the City Palace.

Initially, the City Palace served as the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, but now it is a private property, in whose possession rich tourists are allowed for a rather big fee. There is a museum on the territory of the palace, where several thousand types of weapons are presented. But the unique vessel, which is made of pure silver, deserves special attention. Its weight is 345kg and its capacity is more than 4000 liters. Once upon a time, the Maharajas gathered in England, and took with them water from the Ganges in this vessel.

The palace complex of the capital of Rajasthan was created somewhere from 1729 to the twentieth century, its history began with the ruler of Amber Sawai Jai Singh II. The fortress walls of the City Palace with the gates of Virendra were chosen by monkeys. There is an old observatory nearby. Elements of various cultures, including European, have been introduced into the architecture of the Palace. Museum expositions here include collections of weapons encrusted with precious stones, clothes of royalty, carriages (only carriages can be photographed) and much more, but a significant part of the complex still belongs to the royal residence and is only partially accessible to visitors.
