Humayun's tomb was erected at the end of the fourteenth century by order of Hamida Khan Begum, the wife of the Mughal emperor, in memory of her late wife. The mausoleum is located on the vast territory of the park complex, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The construction of Humayun's Tomb marked the beginning of an era of commemorative mausoleum construction in India, the most grandiose of which was the
Taj Mahal.
