Chowpatty Beach
Chowpatty Beach
India, Bombay-Mumbai
Chowpatty is a popular beach in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) on the Arabian Sea, which is not entirely suitable for swimming here due to water pollution. Locals love to come here in the evening for walks, when the sun sets in the sea and beautifully illuminates the city blocks in the sunset. There are many restaurants and cafes on the beach, kiosks with hot corn and cotton candy, souvenir shops, hand-operated carousels work here, you can look at the beach from above - from the Ferris wheel. There is also a monument to Balu Gangadhar Tilak, a fighter for the independence of India. The Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is held annually on Chaupati, during which believers bathe statuettes of the god Ganesha in the form of an elephant in the Arabian Sea.
