Virupaksha Temple
Virupaksha Temple, Virupaksha Temple in Hampi
India, Bellary
The Virupaksha Temple is an ancient building that is very popular with pilgrims. A Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva is located in the village of Hampi, in the middle of the ruins of the former capital of the Vijayanagar Empire. It is impossible to trace the exact date of construction of the temple: archaeological research shows that it was created long before the rise of the empire. Currently, the Virupaksha Temple, along with the proud Hampi, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
