There are a lot of good reviews about this wonderful place. I will not repeat. Let me tell you, you must go there!
Before the trip, we read a lot of reviews and tips, many of which were not entirely helpful.
I'll tell you about our trip from Morjim. on the twentieth of December.
Tickets for sleeperbus were bought in Mapse, from PAOLO, (the desk is located behind the bus station), the day before departure. Tickets cost 1600 rupees for two, for a double sunbed, without air conditioning. some of the passengers bought tickets for the same flight at 900 per person.
We left late by an hour and a half. Bus named RUBY, clean and comfortable. Double beds on the right, single beds on the left.
The beds are comfortable enough. two are not tight. There are drafts at night, but, as they wrote, it’s not worth dragging jackets, socks, sweaters and gloves, only extra weight . . although it may depend on the season . . but you still need to take some warm clothes, nights and mornings in Hampi cool.
Before reaching 4 km to Hampi, the bus broke off, and we arrived at the place only at 11 o'clock. The bus took us to the tourist village, which is across the river.
We immediately bought a ticket for the return flight for tomorrow, they already cost 1800 rupees for two, I don’t know if we did the right thing, but more on that later)
And then we began a frantic search for a hotel . . Since we arrived late, most of the hotels were occupied, or cost from 800 rupees and more per room. I remember reviews of Hampi, where hotel prices were indicated from 250 to 600 rupees. for us it was a bit of a shock. In general, having run around the hotels like that, with a bag of warm clothes (thanks for the advice!! )), we found a simple family guest house Ever Green for 600 rupees. and they were already happy about this) The owners of the hotel are very hospitable and responsive. A room with a double bed, a shower with cold water, windows without glass, And a view from the toilet room to the temple - BEAUTY!!
)) But next to the crossing) Guest has its own restaurant, quite cozy, with sunbeds and a pleasant relaxing atmosphere. but we preferred to have breakfast in a cafe on the shore, with a gorgeous view of the river and temples.
You can cross to Hampi by boat or reed round boat, the cost is 10 rupees. The boat transports up to 18 hours, by boat - around the clock, but the price grows exponentially, the later, the more expensive, at 12 at night it can reach 100 rupees.
Having crossed the river, as soon as your foot sets foot on the shore, you will be attacked by rickshaws. Interrupting and overtaking each other, they will offer their services. Whatever they tell you, know - the price of 3 hours is 300 rupees, 4 hours is 400 rupees.
Memorize the departure time and show it to the rickshaw. . There are those crooks!
If you hired for three hours, use it to the maximum - exactly 3 hours.
If your trip took less time, you won't be able to save by proving that logically 2 hours is 200 rupees, Nifiga! Pay 300 and that's it. He will follow you around Hampi until you pay 300 rupees, or ride with him the rest of the time. If you travel a little more than 3 hours, you will have to pay 400 rupees.
The best option is to rent a bicycle or bike, by the way, you can cross the boat with a bike and ride around Hampi on your own. I just can’t imagine how to climb the stairs with a bike)
If you need a guide, do not rush to take the first rickshaw you come across, they don’t tell much, and sometimes they speak English in such a way that you won’t understand.
When walking along Hapmi, stock up on water, it is very hot, and it is not sold everywhere. And about comfortable shoes. In sneakers or sneakers to wander for a long time in the heat, the legs will fall off. So convenient, does not mean closed.
Hampi itself is vast and magnificent.
One day or two is not enough. In addition to temples and ruins, there is incredibly beautiful nature. Too bad we were only there for two days. I would like to live there for 5 days, and it is in this tourist village. Wander through the jungle, climb the rocks, enjoy the peace and quiet, admire the fabulous nature.
We were very glad that Ruby was brought not to the city, but to this place across the river. even if the hotels are more expensive.
Prices in restaurants are almost the same as in Goa, maybe a dozen rupees cheaper. The only thing is that there is no alcohol here, only beer, and then at 200 rupees per bottle. So, I advise you, if you use it, take it with you)
And about leaving.
When we got into our Ruby, we found that our bunk was already occupied. And there were about a third of the bus like us. As it turned out, tickets for this flight are sold in different places, and these unfortunate sellers were selling several tickets for one seat. And the guys from Moscow were sold tickets to non-existent places.
We knocked out a double bunk for ourselves) Others were not lucky. We drove half the night in two or three on a single bunk.
I summarize what has been written)))
Going to Hampi is a must, and preferably for a few days.
If possible, book the hotel in advance.
Keep your eyes open and bargain with the risks)
Take alcohol and more! ! Joke)
To explore not only the temple complex, but to take a bike and ride around the surroundings, admire the scenery)
Souvenirs are much more expensive than in Goa.
And finally, get on the bus first, and hold on to your seat with all your hands and feet))
Despite some troubles, we want to go back there and see what was overlooked)
That's all I wanted to say! ))
