I would like to talk about my visit to the main attraction of Netanya, which is not included in the excursion routes. If desired, any tourist who is interested in the topic of the Great Patriotic War and the Holocaust can visit it. We are talking about the Victory Memorial, which was opened in 2012.

In the early 2000s, a "fashion" appeared in some countries to demolish/relocate monuments related to the Great Patriotic War. They carried it in Estonia, blew it up in Georgia...And only in Israel, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, was a modern memorial to the memory of the soldiers of the Red Army over Nazi Germany built - the Victory Memorial. We allocated a fairly large area in a beautiful and prestigious place in the resort city of Netanya, landscaped everything around ...The "wings" captured in many photographs are only part of the complex, located about 45-55 minutes walk from the central square - from Kikar a-Atzmaut . It is 15 minutes from the Ramada and Island hotels.
It is impossible to say more precisely - it all depends on how fast you go and how long you stop on the embankment on the way to the Memorial to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Netanya. Palm trees, benches, numerous sculptures, as well as figurines in the form of mushrooms, frogs, snails, bunnies, ladybugs ...Lawns, steep slopes, a winding embankment ...You can get there by bus or minibus, but walking is more interesting. There are water installations along the way, which is especially important, because in Israel you need to drink a lot of water.
Start the inspection from the farthest part from the sea, which resembles a stone monolith of dark gray color. Every visitor who understands Hebrew, Russian, English or French can listen to a brief information about the events of those years and about the Memorial. To do this, there are two "columns" with buttons that turn on the audio guide.
The text of the first in Russian reads as follows: “The State of Israel and the entire Jewish people are deeply grateful to the Russian people, other peoples of the former USSR and the soldiers of the Red Army for self-sacrifice and heroism, thanks to which the victory over the fascist enemy during the Second World War was won and an end was put to Catastrophe of European Jewry in ghettos and concentration camps in Europe. The relationship between this victory and the rebirth of the Jewish people in their country is deeply rooted in the minds of the citizens of Israel. By decision of the Israeli government and with the consent of the Russian government, the Victory Memorial was erected at this site as a token of deep gratitude to the Russian people and the Red Army. ”

You need to go into this like a piece of a cave. On the walls are the dates of battles and the liberation of cities, the names of concentration camps are written, and some events from the war are also depicted.
For example, the execution of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, during which a German cynically photographed her.
You leave this dark bunker, and those very famous wings grow before your eyes.
Such an exit from dark "bonds" to white wings symbolizes the transition from darkness to light, from evil to good. If the first part of the complex tells about the Great Patriotic War and the Holocaust, then the second personifies peace, victory, hope for life.

Next to the Victory Memorial there is a "witness to those terrible years - a wagon in which Jews were sent to concentration camps. Read more about the Ha-Karon" ("Wagon") Memorial here: http://www.turpravda.com/il/netanija /blog-107400.html

I recommend visiting this complex to every tourist who came to rest in Netanya. And also for those who rent a car and will drive along the seaside highway past Netanya. Especially for those who come with children - it is important for them to remind them as often as possible about what happened and what should not happen again!
