Israel, Jerusalem
The Knesset is Israel's legislative body, its parliament. The Knesset building opened in 1966. Funding was provided by James Rothschild.
Marc Chagall, Dani Karavan and David Palombo took part in the design of the building. During the construction of the Knesset, an ancient tomb was discovered, to preserve which a patio was made, which visitors can observe through glass. Opposite the entrance is a giant seven candlestick (menorah), decorated with bas-reliefs. The front door is made in bronze by the sculptor David Palombo. The reception hall is decorated with magnificent tapestries woven according to the drawings of the artist Marc Chagall. Entrance to the plenary sessions of the Parliament is allowed.
