Siloam tunnel

Hezekiah's Tunnel, Siloam Tunnel
Israel, Jerusalem
During the reign of King Hezekiah (715-687 B.C.E.), Jerusalem was threatened by an attack by the Assyrian army, which could lead to a long siege. The king ordered a water pipe to be cut through, which later became known as the “Tunnel of Siloam”. The tunnel was discovered in 1838. Today the tunnel is part of the archaeological park "City of David".
