Archaeological Museum. J.D. Rockefeller Museum was created with donations from the Rockefeller family and is housed in a building built in 1938.
Since 1967, it has been under the control of the Israel Museum. In 1978, a photography department was opened here. The Rockefeller Archaeological Museum is the largest collection of finds found not only in Palestine, but also in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Numerous exhibitions brought the Museum fame as one of the best archaeological research centers in the world.
The exposition presents numerous archaeological finds discovered in Jerusalem and its environs in the 19th and 1st half. 20th century The items exhibited in the first octagonal room were found in the Beit Shean area. Other halls are dedicated to the Canaanite, Israelite, Arabic and Ottoman periods.
