Temple Rambut Sivi
Pura Rambut Siwi, Pura Rambut Siwi
Indonesia, Jimbaran
An ancient coastal temple 16 kilometers from Medevi, whose history is connected with the Hindu priest Nirartha. A curl from his head is kept here, and the name translates as "the temple of worship of the hair." The sacred hair, along with parts of Nirartha's robe, are enclosed in a special sandalwood box buried deep inside the central pagoda.
Descending the rock-cut steps from the temple gate to the jet-black sands of the beach, you will find small shrines pressed into the cliff wall to the right of the stairs. The first of these, the Pura Tirta cave temple, has a sacred spring guarded by a statue of Nirartha.
