Puri Gianyar
Gianyar Castle, Puri Gianyar
Indonesia, Denpasar
The town of Gianyar to the northeast of Denpasar, once the capital of the kingdom of the same name, is famous for the dilapidated royal castle of the 18th century Puri Gianyar. The fate of this place is rather sad - despite the fact that the Dutch did not cause any harm to the castle, it was destroyed during the war with neighboring Klungkung at the end of the 19th century, and then, in 1917, already rebuilt, it became a victim of an earthquake. Today, the building is in a very dilapidated state, so you can not get inside, but, nevertheless, tourists often come here to look at it from the outside.
