Bajra Sandhi Monument
Bajra Sandhi Monument
Indonesia, Denpasar
The Bajra Sandhi monument is located next to the residence of the governor of Bali. This huge monument, 45 meters high, is a symbol of the Balinese struggle for independence against the Dutch invasion at the beginning of the 20th century. The territory of the monument has a rectangular shape and is divided into three levels: in the first part there are a library, an exhibition center, a conference hall and an information center; in the second - halls with an exposition and a diorama dedicated to different periods of the history of the island and the ritual suicide of Puputans; in the third zone, visitors, having overcome 70 steps, get to the observation deck, which offers a wonderful view of Denpasar. The Bajra Sandhi monument has a very beautiful appearance and is built in the style of Balinese architecture. Its territory is surrounded by tall trees and a well-kept garden, which makes it a great place for photography and a favorite vacation spot for locals.
