The monument to Ronald Wilson Reagan, President of the United States in 1981-1989, is located on Freedom Square, opposite the obelisk to Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of Budapest during World War II. The two-meter bronze statue of the ex-president was unveiled by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in 2011, on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ronald Reagan. Also, the issue of postage stamps with the image of the 40th President of the United States was timed to coincide with this event.

Sculptor Istvan Mate created a statue based on photographs of Reagan, he depicted the former president walking from the Hungarian parliament building towards the American embassy, ​​located in the eastern part of the square. The United States and President Reagan personally made a major contribution to the cause of ending the Cold War, as a result of which Hungary regained its independence.

Reagan was not in Budapest
In 2011, a monument to the famous Ronald Reagan - a politician and President of the United States - was unveiled. A bronze two-meter statue made of bronze stands on Freedom Square in the heart of the city. It was made by Hungarian sculptor Istvan Mate and installed next to the US Embassy.→
