The monument to the national hero of Hungary, Prince Ferenc II Rakoczi, is located on Lajos Kossuth Square, southeast of the Hungarian Parliament Building. Ferenc II Rákóczi was the leader of the national liberation war of the Hungarian people against Austrian rule, which ended in the defeat of the Hungarians. A monument to the joint work of the sculptor Janos Pastor and the architect Denes Györgyi was erected in 1935, on the bicentenary of Rákóczi's death.

The monument is a bronze figure of a hero sitting on a rearing horse with dignity. The equestrian statue is placed on a massive granite pedestal erected on a wide two-stage base. Ahead on the pedestal is a bas-relief of the Rakoczi family coat of arms with a crown, on the other sides of the pedestal there are inscriptions dedicated to the national liberation war of 1703-1711.

Leader of the liberation war
The equestrian statue of Prince Ferenc Rakoczi is located on the Pest side, near the promenade, in front of the Hungarian Parliament. The figure of the prince on a raised horse is made of bronze and mounted on a massive pedestal of red granite. On the front of the pedestal is a bas-relief of the coat of arms of Rakoczi with a crown above and under it the name "Rakoczi". The monument was erected in 1935 by sculptor Janos Pastor and architect Denes Gyö rgy. Prince Ferenc II Rakoczi is one of the most revered heroes of Hungary.→
