The Matthias Fountain is located near the western wall of
Buda Castle. It was opened in 1904. The fountain is a bronze sculptural composition based on a historical legend: King Matthias hunting in the forest, surrounded by his dogs, as well as a forester and his daughter, who fell in love with the king, but did not achieve reciprocity. The fountain is one of the favorite places for tourists, it is considered a good omen to throw a coin into it.
