Hum is a fortified city in the central part of the Istrian peninsula, in the Buzet community. The city is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the smallest city in the world. Its population in 2011 was 23.
Hum acquired its modern form in the 11th century. Since that time, practically nothing has been built outside the walls of the fortress, that is, the city has hardly developed since the early Middle Ages. It is a famous tourist center.
