Church of St. Blaise

Crkva sv. Vlaha
Croatia, Dubrovnik
Church of St. Blaise is a Catholic church in Dubrovnik, in the central part of the city on Lodge Square.

Built at the beginning of the 18th century on the site of an old Romanesque church, which survived a strong earthquake in 1667, but burned down in 1706. The new building was erected between 1706 and 1715 according to the design of the Venetian architect Marina Gropellia. On the main altar of the church there is a gilded silver statue of St. Blaise, in the hands of the saint is a model of the city before the earthquake of 1667.

This is a small but beautiful and graceful baroque church. It was built on the site of an old ruined Romanesque-Gothic temple, from which only 3 stone figures remained - the figure of St. Vlach with a scroll in his hands and 2 figures of saints. Saint Vlach is the patron saint of Dubrovnik. Is it necessary to say that they treat the church with special respect and love? By the way, an organ sounds inside the church, and within its walls there is a masterpiece created by Dubrovnik jewelers - a silver statue of St.
