Agora Kos
Agora
Greece, Kos
Agora is located in the center of the city. Here are collected the ruins of different eras - from the Hellenistic to the Byzantine buildings. These ruins were exposed after the earthquake of 1933 and were excavated and restored by the Italians who occupied Kos at that time. Of greatest interest are the buildings of the Roman period - the gallery of the Forum of the 3rd century BC, the remains of the temple of Hercules of the 3rd century BC, mosaic floors depicting Orpheus and Hercules, the ruins of the temple of Aphrodite Pandemos. Near the Roman agora, a Christian basilica from the 5th century AD was also found.
