Old Venetian port of Chania

Old Venetian Harbor, Old Port of Chania
Greece, Chania
The old Venetian port of Chania is located in the center of the old town. It was built by the Venetians in the 13th century and was the center of the city's business life. Despite the fact that from 1645 to 1913 the city was owned by the Turks, the port practically did not change its appearance. Among the narrow medieval streets you can find many cozy cafes and restaurants.

The Venetian harbor of Chania, built during the Venetian rule, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in this Cretan city. On the shores of the harbor there are many cafes and taverns, as well as cruise boats, where you can go on exciting sea excursions. The harbor, designed for 40 galleys, was built by the Venetians in 1356. At the entrance to the harbor was built Fortress Firkas, near which is the Cretan Maritime Museum. It was in the fortress of Firkas in December 1913 that a flag was raised in honor of the unification of Greece with the island of Crete.

Crowded, noisy place, really reminiscent of Venice. Lots of cafes, bars, restaurants and taverns where you can enjoy your evening or lunch, for example.
